Colorado Rockies right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano was scratched from Saturday’s start against the visiting San Francisco Giants due to back spasms.
Rookie left-hander Sean Sullivan (0-2, 8.64 ERA) will start Saturday’s game in Denver in place of Sugano (8-4, 4.80).
Sugano, 36, went unbeaten in five June starts, going 4-0 with a 6.58 ERA. His team gave him a combined 40 runs of support in those four wins.
Sullivan, 23, walked away with a no-decision on Monday after allowing five runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Miami Marlins.
He has yet to face the Giants in his young career.
