Oct 25 (Field Level Media) – After recording his 11th career triple-double on Saturday versus the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Detroit Pistons to manage his workload. due to right foot plantar fasciitis management.
The oft-injured Embiid, who deals with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, told reporters after the 127-116 win over Milwaukee that he wanted to play against Detroit.
“I actually want to play tomorrow, so can you guys put pressure on them,” Embiid said. “… I want to play tomorrow, so start writing articles and put pressure on them so they’ll let me play.”
But with LeBron James returning to the lineup versus the Pistons, the Sixers opted to stick with the plan to rest Embiid. James did not play (sciatica) against the Bucks.
Embiid played 36 minutes on Saturday and amassed 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as Philadelphia moved to 3-0. He leads the Sixers with 9.7 rebounds per game while ranking second in assists (5.7 apg) and third in scoring (21.7 ppg).
James may have to play minutes at the center position as 76ers bigs Dominick Barlow (back), Jabari Walker (knee) and Tacko Fall (quad) are all on the shelf.
Veteran Dean Wade, who scored seven points and added two rebounds and three steals in his Philadelphia debut on Saturday, and Adem Bona will also likely see time at center.
